The El Modena Aquatic Center replaced the school’s aging pool facility with a modern, community-focused space. The new 30-meter pool features advanced sports lighting for optimal visibility with minimal glare, supported by energy-efficient controls. Shade canopies over the spectator bleachers provide comfort during water sports events such as swim meets and water polo tournaments, while the CMU block walls and steel-framed roof maintain architectural continuity with the campus. The project required close coordination with the concurrent Science Center construction, including the early installation of underground electrical conduits to avoid service interruptions.
While the new pool deck maintains the original footprint, the upgraded pool extends from 25 to 30 meters—enhancing capacity and creating more opportunities for student-athletes to train and compete together. With a refined design that better serves the needs of modern-day aquatics programs, the Aquatic Center balances functionality, sustainability, and aesthetic integration to deliver a versatile facility.
