The Core Idea
Technology—particularly AI—is evolving at a pace that office space has not matched. While AI tools are rapidly changing how people research, create, analyze, and decide, most workplaces are still optimized for pre-AI patterns of visibility and presence.
Intelligence in Place is a strategy and framework for closing that gap. It treats workplace environments as active collaborators in AI-enabled work, intentionally aligning AI intelligence, data intelligence, and human intelligence so that workSPACE amplifies human potential instead of simply housing people and devices.
What is Intelligence in Place?
Intelligence in Place weaves together three forms of intelligence in the built environment:
AI INTELLIGENCE
The sensing, automation, and decision-support embedded in tools, building systems, and (increasingly) the space itself.
DATA INTELLIGENCE
The ethical collection and use of utilization, behavioral, comfort, and performance signals to tune the workplace over time.
HUMAN INTELLIGENCE
The cognitive, emotional, social, and ethical capabilities that AI augments but cannot replace.
Where these three overlap—and are intentionally orchestrated—space becomes:
Empathetic: attuned to human needs
Adaptive: capable of learning and adjusting
Evidence-Informed: continuously improved via feedback and data
