The two-story, 65,800-square-foot facility introduces an “inverted corridor” design, with circulation located along the perimeter of the building. This approach places science and prep labs at the building’s core while framing them with corridors that open to mountain views and daylight. These perimeter corridors double as informal breakout spaces where students gather for collaboration, presentations, and small-group study, extending learning beyond classroom walls.

At the heart of the facility is a multi-story, clerestory-lit lobby that serves as both a main entrance and a dynamic showcase of student work. The space features display zones, clear views into the innovation lab, and a grand stair integrated with “learning steps” that encourage spontaneous presentations and gatherings.

By placing activity at the center of the student experience, the design makes learning visible and accessible to the entire campus community.

The building houses specialized environments to support a wide range of subjects, from advanced science and innovation to media arts. Flexible lab layouts promote interdisciplinary collaboration, while shared prep and support spaces increase efficiency. Administration offices are seamlessly integrated, reinforcing the Center’s dual role as both an academic and organizational hub.

Sustainability was a guiding principle throughout the design. Natural daylighting reduces reliance on artificial lighting, while efficient mechanical, electrical, and lighting systems enhance performance. A photovoltaic solar array offsets approximately 75% of the building’s electrical demand, aligning with the school’s commitment to environmental stewardship and operational efficiency.

Equally important is the role of the Science and Innovation Center as a new front door for the Regis Jesuit campus. By combining administrative functions with specialized teaching spaces, the facility creates a highly visible point of arrival for students, families, and visitors. Its architecture expresses openness, innovation, and connection, setting the tone for the campus experience as a whole.

The Science and Innovation Center represents a major investment in Regis Jesuit’s mission to inspire students through academic excellence and innovation. It is a place where collaboration thrives, where discovery is celebrated, and where learning is always in view.
