HED Ranked Among Crain’s Detroit Business 2026 Private 200

May 7, 2026

HED has been recognized among Crain’s Detroit Business’ 2026 Private 200, ranking No. 120 on the publication’s annual list of the largest privately held companies in Southeast Michigan.

Published each year, the Private 200 highlights privately held organizations shaping the economic and cultural fabric of the Detroit region across industries ranging from manufacturing and technology to professional services, construction, and design.

For HED, the recognition reflects more than continued growth. It speaks to the endurance of a practice rooted in integrated thinking, long-term partnerships, and the belief that design carries consequences far beyond the walls of a building. As communities, institutions, and industries confront increasingly layered challenges, the demand for thoughtful, interdisciplinary design continues to expand.

Founded in Detroit and still headquartered in the city more than a century later, HED has grown into a national firm delivering architecture and engineering solutions across nine market sectors. The firm’s work spans healthcare, housing, higher education, science and technology, workplace, manufacturing, and civic environments, with teams collaborating across disciplines to help clients navigate complexity and shape sustainable, high-performing spaces.

Detroit remains central to who we are at HED. Being included on this year’s Private 200 list reflects the trust our clients place in us, the dedication of our teams across the country, and the enduring strength of a firm built to think across disciplines and scale.
