Co-chairs Melina Aluwi and Patsy Shigetomi guide HED’s Women in Architecture + Engineering + Design ERG into a new year of connection and leadership.
HED’s Women in Architecture + Engineering + Design (WiA+ED) Employee Resource Group begins 2026 with renewed energy and an open invitation to staff across all offices.
Led by co-chairs Melina Aluwi AIA, LEED AP and Patsy Shigetomi AIA, IIDA, NCIDQ, LEED AP, WiA+ED continues its mission to foster a more diverse and inclusive profession by empowering women through leadership development, career resources, and a strong peer network. The group works to elevate visibility, cultivate belonging, and inspire women to shape the future of design.
As HED grows, so does the opportunity to deepen connection. With many new team members joining since the last session in 2025, WiA+ED is expanding its reach and inviting staff to participate in upcoming events and conversations. Meeting invitations and communications will be shared with those who opt in, reinforcing the group’s commitment to intentional engagement and meaningful dialogue.
WiA+ED reflects HED’s broader belief that thoughtful leadership begins from within. By investing in mentorship, shared experience, and collective momentum, the group strengthens not only individual careers, but the culture of the firm itself.
